learned how to order correctly ['wiz wit'] at Geno’s [not Pat's, thank you] in Philly.
and I love Philly.
I got me some good people down there.
family, even.
and my favorite place in all of the United States to spend a day.
now, that all being said, it should also be said that this gem – 99 Miles to Philly – in the middle of Manhattan is fantastic. it’s done well, it’s run well. there was a justifiable line to get the #91.
and it was delicious. the bread, the fake cheese. the fries.
everything was amazing – if you like a good cheesesteak, visit.
it should be said that the night before I had a large evening and that next day had consisted on nothing but coffee[s] before I put this on my tummy.
I would then spend the better part of the working day in the company toilet [pretty sure everyone thinks I have a cocaine habit] and calling Josie moaning [3am her time].
I would make no friends that day.
the price one pays for ticking boxes on a list.
so go. eat. it’s delicious. there is absolutely no reason why you shouldn’t -Â just don’t be an asshole about it.

[sorry, guys]

Geno’s? No no no — never Geno’s! It’s the lesser competitor by far in the Geno’s/Pat’s rivalry, and the owner is a stone racist with a cop fetish. Of the better-known cheesesteak places, Jim’s Steaks on 4th and South is probably the best (though half a block east of there on the 300 block of South, Ishkabibble’s does a steak that’s just as good), but for my money, the best place to get a cheesesteak is Paul’s Pizza on the 700 block of Sansom. Most of the customers there are security guards working on Jewelers’ Row, so the place doesn’t stay open late, but if you go there for lunch and order the cheesesteak with hot peppers, I guarantee you won’t regret it.
Interesting to know that there’s a good cheesesteak place in NYC, though. I’ve never understood why something as conceptually simple as the cheesesteak gets so horribly distorted outside Philadelphia — it’s not like it’s hard!
At least your honest about the 0 healthy stars from me. But, I do love me a Philly if the timing is right.
Damn it. Can I delete my comment and spell properly? You wouldn’t think that I write copy all day and get paid for it.
it’s okay, Josie. I think he’s missing an ‘s’ in his title. I could be wrong. I’m a ‘Cheeseteaks’ novice.
