weymouth photo of the day – 11

this is a pub. it’s not far from here. it’s a very nice pub, with good hand-drawn ales, if that’s your thing – it’s not mine. they serve wonderful cheese n’ onion crisps, which I enjoy. if you’re really hungry, they do a decent pie, but the gravy could be a bit thicker. in one corner is an old Singer sewing machine and on Monday night, it’s Quiz Night. I went in there once and sat next to a table of Americans, which kind of ruined it for me, so I talked quieter – if I wasn’t going to be the only one, I was going to be the quietest. as much as I love the States, I think I need to live near one of these. I’d like to meet my Dad here on a Saturday afternoon and ask him about drywalling. or girls. I like these places – you get drunk, but you don’t get drunk – too many beers? sure – most every time I come in. but there are no ‘shot specials’ or drinks with fruit, save for the Pimms in the summer. give us a pub any day of the week, brother, and I’ll be happy.

When you mentioned the Singer sewing machine in the corner, I really hoped you were going to say that Monday was quilting night, but alas…….
