I’m trying to sort out if me sitting in this chair for the past week working on the show and pics was a good thing or not. From what I can tell, no preparation is enough preparation for India. But I’ve barely picked up the book. My friend Vanessa showed me her form of shots she got before heading over there and I looked at it if it was written in Vietnamese. I mean, it was, but regardless, I should still be – at least – aware, no?
I drunkenly picked up Nym’s picture book of the place last night. And plan on looking through it tonight as well. But that’s not really prep, is it? Or maybe it is. Maybe no prep is the best prep. I have general idea of where I’d like to go. But God seems to get his kicks out of when I plan, so I’ll refrain.
I am excited, though. Before this SE Asia trip, I talked to many folk who had been all over, so it seemed…easy, in a sense. But India.
We shall see – I’m keen on getting feedback on the shows, to be honest, I did them for 2 reasons:
1. I miss doing something, doesn’t matter what it is. Just…Contributing. Archiving.
2. It gives a visual to some of the things I’ve seen. Let’s be honest, crazy/dreaded/naked guy is much better seen
…oh, I’m rambling. One meal today out of both poverty and procrastination. Am going to try and go veggie over there. At least until I get sick and then I might as well eat everything.
From what I’ve heard, India is brilliant after you get out.
We shall see.
So long, Bangkok. I do like you.
Aric, people I’ve known who’ve gone to India say that going veggie is a good idea. The meat there can give you problems (as in stomach) but the beer is very good. Everyone who’s gone comes back with a boatload of great experiences, contrasted with memories of ragged beggars and extreme poverty.
Don’t forget to try all the combinations of milk tea. The spices they use are really unique. If I remember correctly, Goa is the one place (because of its Portuguese influence) where the meat is good, and I have a feeling you’ll be visiting Goa on this trip. I’m curious to know what you think of the trance scene there.
Mate, hope you planning on doing the Manali-Leh Highway at some point. See the photos here, middle part is from that journey: http://molonese.blogspot.com/2005_10_01_archive.html
Goa.. not real India, nothing more than a hardcore drug scene lived by some very lost souls..
thank you both!
not much on the trance scene, but hardcore drugs for lost souls? you had me at ‘namaste’!
