Funny how solving an occasional problem ends up putting you in a better place than you were originally. For the past few months, I’ve wasted godknowshowlong on locating ‘missing’ songs in my iTunes. Finally fixed, I realized that one of the albums I had been going without was Hawksley Workman’s ‘For Him and The Girls’ – and was immediately ashamed that such a piece of mastery could go unnoticed for so long. He’s Canadian. He’s flamboyant. He’s simply breath-taking to listen to. Think Tom Waits meets Jeff Buckley on a Pete Yorn tip and you’re close. Poetic. Devastating. Weird. Amazing. This production reminded me a lot of ‘Real Gone‘ for some reason.

To pick a favorite track would be impossible, but one that I’ve kept on repeat for the past few days would have to be ‘Don’t Be Crushed’.
